World of Mouth is introducing a new era in restaurant guides: an app driven by a rapidly growing global community of passionate food lovers committed to creating the world’s most credible and transparent restaurant guide with no ads or negative reviews. The guide was founded five years ago by food writer Kenneth Nars and entrepreneur Saku Tuominen in Helsinki, Finland. The aim of the guide was, from the very beginning, to provide the ultimate insider’s guide by food lovers for food lovers and to highlight great restaurants of any category. With a commitment to transparency, positivity and quality, the duo and their team today manage an app with more than 100,000 users and 15,000 personal restaurant recommendations to 2,300 destinations globally.

At the heart of World of Mouth lies a vibrant expert community including some of the world ́s most famous chefs, food writers, restaurateurs and sommeliers, including culinary superstars such as Spanish chef Albert Adrià (Enigma, Barcelona), Virgilio Martínez and Pía León (Central and Kjolle, Lima) and Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema. Other experts include Ana Roš (Hiša Franko, Netflix’s Chef’s Table), Ben Shewry (Attica, Melbourne), Vaughan Mabee (Amisfield, Queenstown) and Phil Rosenthal (Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil) and our own Cuisine editor Kelli Brett. There are already 600 experts in the community and new ones joining daily.

In the World of Mouth, users can access personal recommendations from both experts and fellow food lovers and filter them based on various criteria such as location, cuisine and price range, and save their favourite spots to wishlists and create collections to plan their trips. World of Mouth has no advertisements, paid visibility or ratings, and experts are barred from recommending their own places.

Yakitori Toriyoshi Nakameguro
〒153-0051 Tokyo, Meguro City,
Kamimeguro, 2 Chome−8−6,
Yajima Bldg, 1F
One of my go-tos for succulent grilled chicken. Toriyoshi founder Inomata has been credited with starting the upscale yakitori boom in Tokyo and beyond. Behind the wooden counter, a team of skilled chefs grill Date-dori chicken from Fukushima Prefecture over smouldering binchotan charcoal. yakitori-toriyoshi.com Melinda Joe, Food writer, Tokyo

Eté

City, Nishihara, 3 Chome−23−1
代々木上原羽田ビル
Chef Natsuko Shoji’s haute-cuisine style is the ultimate luxury – she will make the dishes depending on the personal preference of the guests. Inspired by high-end fashion and Japanese craftsmanship, her dishes are pieces of art, such as gazpacho decorated with citrus flowers, each flower made with tiny pulps of citrus. ete.rest Kyoko Nakayama, Journalist, Tokyo

Sazenka
4-7-5 Minamiazabu, Minato-ku,
Tokyo, 106-0047
I love to go to Sazenka, it’s probably my number one in Tokyo. It’s a Chinese restaurant that has three Michelin stars, run by a Japanese chef – very Japanese in style but the flavours are very Chinese. I really enjoy this restaurant as I think his level of finesse is very high and he brings a certain refinement to his style of Chinese cuisine which, some people may disagree, I think is hard to achieve outside of Japan. So it’s always very interesting to me. sazenka.com Daniel Calvert, Chef at Sézanne, Tokyo

Higashiazabu Amamoto
1 Chome-7-9 Higashiazabu,
Minato City, Tokyo 106-0044
Masamichi Amamoto-san masters the art of sushi in his eight-seat counter restaurant. Great service, friendly chef, perfect techniques and the best ingredients from all over Japan. The food is so elegant, especially his otsumami courses, even though his nigiris are immaculate. higashiazabuamamoto.com Santiago Fernandez, Chef at MAZ, Tokyo

Bazoku Asakusa Ramen
2 Chome-7-6 Kaminarimon,
Taito City, Tokyo 111-0034
This is a ramen shop very close to my husband Taka’s place. If you look at the shop from outside, you will say, “No way, I will not eat there.” But they serve one of the best ramens I’ve ever had in my life: the spicy tan tan ramen. I love it. The thing that I like is that they almost burn the spices, so the ramen is almost black, which gives a nice, super-rich and delicious flavour. I’m going to Japan [soon] and I can’t wait to be there.” Karime Lopez, Chef at Gucci Osteria, Florence
