It can be difficult to constantly hit the mark when you do breakfast, lunch and dinner, too. But here they get it just right. So right, in fact, that you go for brunch (seriously chewable, spot-on sourdough; a majorly impressive Mediterranean full brekky) and want to stay for dinner. The hike up the hill for a feast after five will see you richly rewarded. It’s not just the diners who get treated with respect, it’s the ingredients. Coconut potato samosas kickstart a lively evening. Pork, duck, beef and vegetable mains have plenty of tickle to each dish; the sides are much more than a mere afterthought. A wine list pays due recognition to local vineyards alongside some out-of-towners, and the dilemma of decision-making is eased with the offer of set-course menus for both lunch and dinner. Not that hungry? At the very least take away one of their heroic scones.
