If you’re looking for a melting pot of Indian flavours, this is it. With its seamless blend of fine dining with a flavourful tour of the sub-continent, there is so much to like – and explore. A delightful harmony is achieved with a mix of Kiwi ingredients and the craft of one of New Zealand’s top chefs. This is not your average night out – in a good way. Although flooding forced hospo-royalty owners Sid and Chand Sahrawat to vacate their former Fort Lane address and move to SkyCity, the key ingredients of their brand (classic spice and flavour combinations with a local tickle) remain. That extends to the cocktails where we gladly report the excellent list takes full notice of Indian origins. There’s an impressive list of gin and tonics too. The pace doesn’t falter for afters: the tropical sorbet, coconut and lychee dessert is a star turn.
