It is from where we come and those who have come before us that we truly gain our strength and place. We were fortunate to grow up in the special coastal village of Maketu, the landing place of the Te Arawa waka and where the Kaituna river meets the Pacific Ocean. Our childhoods were spent gathering pipi, mussels and kina, and with aunties and uncles dropping off bags of whatever homegrown produce was ripe for the picking. Our connection to the land has been an intrinsic part of us from the day we were born.

From this idyllic landing place, we have travelled to over 50 international destinations to educate our palates and eat at some of the world’s top restaurants such as Noma, Gaggan and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon as well as eating at some of the humblest of dinner tables all over the globe. We have a burning passion for food and to travel to all corners of the world in order to find that next life-changing bite. But in the end, we always come home, to our grounding place. That is where we combine our heritage, flavours of our childhood and ingredients from our land with all the things we have learned on our culinary expeditions.

It is an honour to share some of our most beloved recipes we have created with you all. Mauri Ora.
